The Busy Honeybee
4 minute read · with Maryam, Grandma Safiyyah

Maryam tip-toed close to a pink flower. A small, fuzzy honeybee was sitting on top, her wings shining in the sun.
"Hello, little bee," Maryam whispered.
The bee buzzed gently, then flew to another flower, and another, and another.
"Grandma," Maryam called, "the bee is so busy! What is she doing?"
Grandma Safiyyah came over and crouched beside her. "She is collecting sweet drops from the flowers. Inside her little home, she will turn it into honey."
"Honey?" Maryam blinked. "From flowers?"
"Yes, my love. Allah taught her how. She didn't go to school. No one showed her with a book. Allah whispered it into her tiny heart."
Maryam watched the bee zoom away. "Allah taught her," she repeated softly, as if it was the most amazing thing she had ever heard.
That night, when Maryam stirred honey into her warm milk, she stopped and smiled. "Thank You, Allah," she said. "And thank you, little bee, for listening."
Little Tawheed lesson
Allah teaches every creature what to do. Even tiny bees know their job because of Allah.
From the Qur'an
"And your Lord inspired the bee… from inside their bodies comes a drink of varying colours in which there is healing for people."
— Surah An-Nahl 16:68-69
For little hearts: Allah taught the little bees how to make honey. Honey is a special gift Allah gives us, and it even helps our bodies feel better.
